Ferrari 2007 F1 Transporter

The Ferrari Transporter Fleet

Often overlooked by fans, the Ferrari transporter played an essential role in the team's success, carrying the cars, equipment and infrastructure required to compete at every European Grand Prix.

While today's Formula One calendar spans the globe, requiring overseas freight to be transported by air and sea, road transport remains vital for European races. During a typical season, Scuderia Ferrari moves almost 600 tonnes of equipment, requiring a fleet of eighteen trucks.

Eight vehicles transport hospitality facilities, four carry workshop equipment, three are dedicated to telemetry systems, while the remaining trucks support pit lane operations, catering and the Formula One Paddock Club.

This model faithfully reproduces one of the most important vehicles in Ferrari's racing operation: the transporter that carried the championship-winning Ferrari F2007 cars throughout the unforgettable 2007 Formula One World Championship season.

Technical Specification

IVECO supplied the heavy-duty transport vehicles used by Scuderia Ferrari to move Formula One cars and equipment between European Grands Prix. The partnership between Ferrari and Iveco was already well established by 2007 and continues today.

The Ferrari transporter was based on the Iveco Stralis 480, a flagship long-haul tractor unit designed for heavy-duty logistics. The "480" designation refers to its approximate power output of 480 horsepower.

While based on the production Iveco Stralis 480, Ferrari's 2007 transporter was far more than a conventional truck. Its specially equipped trailer was designed to transport, protect and support the championship-winning Ferrari F2007 cars, functioning as a mobile workshop and logistics hub throughout Ferrari's World Championship campaign.

Power: 480 hp (353 kW)

Engine type: Iveco Cursor 10 turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder

Transmission: EuroTronic automated gearbox

Configuration: 4x2 tractor unit

Gross Combination Weight: up to 44 tonnes

Fuel Capacity: Approx. 600 litres (135 gallons)

The 2007 Grand Prix Season

The 2007 Formula One season stands as one of the most dramatic and significant campaigns in Ferrari's history. It was the Scuderia's first season following the retirement of seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, and many doubted whether Ferrari could remain a championship contender without the driver who had led the team to five consecutive Drivers' titles.

Those doubts were quickly challenged when Kimi Räikkönen won on his Ferrari debut at the opening race in Australia. Alongside teammate Felipe Massa, the Finn helped establish Ferrari as McLaren's principal rival throughout a fiercely competitive season.

As the championship progressed, the battle intensified. McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso appeared to gain the upper hand during the summer months, while Ferrari fought back with a series of crucial victories from both Räikkönen and Massa. Heading into the final race in Brazil, Hamilton led the standings and Räikkönen trailed by seven points, with few believing the Ferrari driver still had a realistic chance of claiming the title.

What followed became one of Formula One's most memorable championship finales. Massa dominated his home Grand Prix in São Paulo, while Räikkönen drove a flawless race to finish second. Difficulties for Hamilton during the race dramatically changed the championship picture, allowing Räikkönen to overturn the deficit and secure the Drivers' World Championship by a single point.

Ferrari's victory was all the more remarkable because it came during a period of transition for the team. The championship-winning Ferrari F2007 proved to be one of the fastest and most reliable cars on the grid, excelling on high-speed circuits thanks to its advanced aerodynamic design. Combined with the determination of Räikkönen, Massa and the entire Scuderia Ferrari team, it delivered both the Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships.

For Ferrari fans, 2007 remains a landmark season: a year of resilience, redemption and championship glory. It was a triumph achieved against the odds and remains the Scuderia's most recent Drivers' World Championship victory.

The drivers: Kimi Räikkönen & Felipe Massa

Kimi Räikkönen (Car No. 6)

Ferrari's Last Drivers' World Champion

Räikkönen won the 2007 Drivers' Championship in his very first season with Ferrari. Remarkably, it remains Ferrari's most recent Drivers' Championship victory.

Won the Title by One Point

Going into the final race in Brazil, Räikkönen trailed Lewis Hamilton by seven points. Against the odds, he won the race and secured the championship by a single point—one of the closest title finishes in Formula One history.

Instant Success at Ferrari

Räikkönen won on his Ferrari debut at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix, becoming the first Ferrari driver since Nigel Mansell in 1989 to win his debut race for the Scuderia.

"The Iceman"

Known for his calm personality and minimal communication, Räikkönen earned the nickname "The Iceman." His cool demeanour under pressure became legendary among fans.

Felipe Massa (Car No. 5)

Ferrari Academy Graduate

Unlike many Ferrari drivers, Massa had already spent years developing within the Ferrari family before joining the works team, making him one of the Scuderia's home-grown success stories.

A Crucial Team Player

While Räikkönen won the championship, Massa's victories and podium finishes were instrumental in helping Ferrari secure the Constructors' Championship.

Dominated His Home Grand Prix

Massa won the 2007 Brazilian Grand Prix from pole position. His victory helped create the circumstances that allowed Räikkönen to clinch the title.

Ferrari's Most Loyal Modern Driver

Massa raced for Ferrari from 2006 to 2013, making him one of the longest-serving Ferrari drivers of the modern Formula One era.
